She wasn't new.
She had been there for about a month. I just didn't notice.
She dressed nicely. Not slutty. I adored her fashion. I adored her.
It was a regular day. Average events. We were in fast food restaurant. They called it Arizona's Most Fabulous Little Diner. Awkward Place. Lovely Timing.
We both had to wait for our food. I stood shaking, thinking, and she stood so elegantly. Thoughts began to race through me.
"What if she hates me?"
"What's the excuse to say something?"
"What if she doesn't like me?"
"How would I deal with this crippling depression?"
"How would I understand this rejection?"
Until the words slipped out.
"Hi."
